Hettich vs Hafele vs Blum: which hardware for your kitchen and wardrobes.
Hettich or Hafele: neither is better across the board. At the same grade they work much the same, so the product line you pick matters more than the brand on the box. Choose Blum where you want the best lift-ups and drawers and the budget allows. Ebco is the value pick: a notch below on finish and feel, at a noticeably lower price. Whichever you choose, write the brand and the product code into the quotation, so nothing gets swapped on site.
Hettich, Hafele, Blum and Ebco: who makes what
A quotation that says "Hettich" or "Hafele" tells you less than you'd think. Each brand sells more than one grade, and the gap between a brand's entry range and its top range is often bigger than the gap between two brands at the same level.
Hafele vs Hettich hinges, channels, tandem boxes and lift-ups
studio master bedroom · the wardrobe open, on Hettich Sensys hinges and KA4532 runnersWhere the grade matters, and where it doesn't
- Kitchen drawers. Opened dozens of times a day and loaded with kadais and a pressure cooker. Spend here, and check the load rating.
- Lift-ups on wall units. A tired lift-up lets a shutter drop on someone's head. Buy a good one or fit a hinged shutter instead.
- Tall units and pull-outs. A pantry pull-out full of jars is heavy, and a weak runner sags within a year or two.
- The sink unit. Damp reaches the hinges here, so pick a range with a good finish that resists rust.
- Where it matters less. Wardrobe hinges, loft shutters, and TV unit or crockery unit doors opened a few times a week. An Ebco or entry-level hinge does fine, and it's the easiest saving if you're working with a budget interior design plan.
A hinge fixed into a plain MDF edge loosens sooner whatever the brand, so the carcass board matters too. We cover that in MDF vs plywood.
Hettich vs Hafele vs Blum price comparison in Bengaluru
At the same grade, Hettich and Hafele prices sit close together. Blum usually costs the most, so the Hettich vs Blum price gap is the one to check before you choose. Compare per piece, code against code.
Typical Bengaluru rates, mid-2026.
Hardware usually comes to 10–20% of a modular kitchen's cost, so count the drawers, lift-ups and corner units before you trim the range. The shutter finish and the countertop usually move the total more. For the finish, read laminate vs acrylic vs PU.
Warranty and service
A warranty covers a faulty fitting. A hinge that sags because it was screwed into a weak edge, or a drawer loaded past its rating, usually isn't covered. Claims need the invoice with the product codes. Before you buy, ask who you call if a hinge fails in year three: the dealer, the brand's service line or your contractor.
What to write into the quotation
Fakes and look-alikes
Popular hinges and channels get copied, and a fake in a near-identical box can fail within a year. Buy from an authorised dealer (each brand lists them on its website), or ask your contractor where they buy. Check for clear printing, the brand's name stamped on the metal, the article number and any hologram or code the brand uses, and ask for a GST invoice with the codes on it. A price far below every other dealer's is the usual warning.

Questions people ask
Which is better, Hettich or Hafele?
Neither across the board. Both are German brands with good ranges and wide dealer networks in Bengaluru, and at the same grade their hinges and channels work much the same. The product line matters more than the brand, so compare Hettich and Hafele code by code: soft-close, load rating, length and warranty. Then pick the one your dealer and carpenter know, at the better price.
Is Blum worth the extra?
In a kitchen you use hard, often yes, for the drawers and the lift-ups on wall units, which are the fittings you feel every day. In wardrobes and low-use cabinets the difference is hard to notice. A sensible mix is Blum in the kitchen and Hettich or Hafele everywhere else.
Is Ebco good enough?
Yes, for most homes. Ebco makes decent hinges, channels and drawer systems. The finish and smoothness are a little below Hettich or Hafele, and the lower price makes up for it. If you want to spend more somewhere, spend it on the kitchen drawers and the wall unit lift-ups, which take the hardest use.
Hettich vs Hafele hinges: is there any difference?
At the same grade, very little in daily use. Both make soft-close, clip-on hinges with 3D adjustment. The differences that matter are between grades: whether the soft-close is built into the hinge or clipped on, the finish, and how far the hinge adjusts. Write the hinge code into the quote so you get the one you compared.
How much does kitchen hardware cost?
Hardware usually comes to 10–20% of a modular kitchen's cost in Bengaluru. A soft-close hinge costs about ₹250–400 in Hettich or Hafele and ₹350–600 in Blum, and drawer systems and lift-ups cost the most per piece. Count the drawers, lift-ups and corner units to see where the money goes.
Is Hettich good for a modular kitchen?
Yes. Hettich is one of the most widely stocked brands in Bengaluru, so spares and service are easy to find. Choose the range by use: a drawer system such as InnoTech for the kitchen drawers, Sensys hinges on the shutters, and a good lift-up on the wall units.
Which hardware brand is best for a modular kitchen in India?
There is no single best brand for the whole kitchen. Blum is the strongest choice for drawers and lift-ups if the budget allows, Hettich or Hafele do well for hinges, channels and accessories, and Ebco gives you the most for the money, a step below them on finish. Whichever you choose, write the product code for each fitting into the quotation.
Is Hettich made in India?
Hettich is a German company, and it makes hinges and runners in India, at its plants near Indore and in Vadodara. That is one reason it is so widely stocked in Bengaluru and spares are easy to find.
